With apologies for late posting:

Llafur is holding an online summer series of talks, panels and discussions on the 1926 General Strike and lock-out in Wales coming up over the summer and early autumn. Please see attached a poster for the first few dates of the series and the following links to our website and Eventbrite booking pages now live for full information about the online series:

We wanted to share in case any SSLH, SLHS and ILHS colleagues and networks may be interested in joining us and please do share with colleagues and your networks. All online sessions will be free and accessible to all.

As part of this series, we're also aiming to organise a couple of sessions later in the autumn on the following themes:

  • Archival showcase of materials related to 1926 and the importance of preserving the objects and memories of the General Strike and lock-out.

  • A session on the aftermath and legacy of 1926.

We were hoping to bring together our fellow labour history societies together as part of these later discussions and wanted to make an initial enquiry about whether you would be interested in participating in these autumn sessions (dates/times TBC).

As part of centenary commemorations of 1926, we've also been working with the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in Cardiff on a touring exhibition as part of a Welsh Government funded project. As part of this, we've set up an online version of the exhibition including some links to resources and ongoing activity around General Strike and lock-out commemorations taking place this year.
